They say time changes everything and I think I am beginning to believe that. Tweleve years ago I had never stepped foot on a military base, now I have been all over the world, on air craft carriers and some of the most awesome jets known to man. Eleven years ago I couldn't have told you what made a Marine so proud and strong, now I can dress head to foot in blues and know where the ribbions go. Hell seven years ago a family was the last thing on my mind.
Now I sit here thinking about it, all of it and I can't believe what time has alotted me. I got to be a Marine, a lawyer and an over all very strong lawyer for over 10 years. I got an inside look at the army. I have been able to see how NYPD works, all by guesting on a special day of SVU when we got a real tour of 1 Police Plaza. My daughter thinks I'm funny, and I am ok with that. I think I am blessed.
Divorce is never easy, but I think mine was. He was understanding, I was understanding. We both want what is best for our little girl. There is no selfishness and I am grateful for that. We can't be married but we can still be great parents.
New chapters, new times, I look forward to what that means. |
